Gayville Auxillary to hold PicnicGAYVILLE AUXILIARY TO HOLD A PICNIC

GAYVILLE (Special) – The Legion Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. Irene Bye at Volin.  Plans were made for the annual picnic to be held at Vermillion June 12.

Mrs. Madeline Roozen gave a report on district convention held at Vermillion.  A paper on the Flag was read by Mrs. Agnes Bye, and a poem on “Fidac” was read by Mrs. Madeline Roozen, after which a lovely lunch was served by the hostess.

The next meeting will be held with Mrs. Olga Snyder.

German Family Holds ReunionGERMAN FAMILY HOLDS REUNION

A reunion of the German family was held at the home of Mrs. A. B. Christensen during the past week end.  Mr. and Mrs. Max German, of Yankton, parents of Mrs. Christensen, were greeted by a son, James German and wife of Lead, a son, Ed German and wife and son, Bobbie, of Pierce, Neb.  George German and family, of Yankton, and the Christensen family completed the reunion group.

Random Other Local NewsPresident of Hillcrest Park Home Extension club, Mrs. F. A. Nixon will entertain the group at her home 1010 Pine street on Monday afternoon, 2 o’clock.  A large attendance is expected, and plans for Achievement Day will be completed.

The business meeting of St. John’s Ladies Aid held in the church parlors Thursday afternoon, was followed by a social hour, and a lovely luncheon was served by the hostesses Mrs. Albert Triebel and Mrs. August Weiland.

Miss Margjorie Ellerman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ellerman, who has been attending the University of California, during the present school year, is expected home on Sunday.

Miss Doris Manbeck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Manbeck, of Columbus, Nebraska, has been a guest at the Ernest Ellerman home during the past week.

Vangen Ladies Aid Mission MeetsVANGEN LADIES AID MISSION MEETS

MISSION HILL (Special) – Naomi Mission of Vangen Ladies Aid met with Mrs. James Sylliaasen June 1, Wednesday afternoon.  Mrs. Abel Abelson and Mrs. Mervil Stevens were welcome visitors.  Mrs. Oscar Helgerson led in devotions using the 147th Psalm.

Mrs. L. V. Thompson was asked to purchase trays to be used by the membership.  In the absence of the president, Mrs. Mark Nelsen, vice president, acted.

The next meeting will be held at the Sig Simonson home July 6.

Yankton to Institute Freeman V.F.W. Post (4 Jun 1938)

2013-09-28 14.32.08A delegation of members of Ernest Bowyer Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, including the post’s degree team, will go to Freeman Sunday afternoon to institute a new V.F.W. post which has recently been organized and chartered there.

The degree team is expected to leave Yankton about 12:30 p. m. tomorrow.  This team is made up of R. W. Grisham, William Regan, Herry Baggs, Paul Waterbury, Glen Clabaugh, William Wolff, Carl Anderson, Al Henderson and Harry Apted.
