Surprise! Army Finds Joe Fit?
Ordinarily taciturn, Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis (left) is caught with his mouth open as Dr. Spencer Dickerson, medical examiner, gave the king of lethal swing his preliminary physical examination for army service at Chicago. The verdict — this won’t surprise you — was that Louis passed. (NEA telephoto.)
