Bernard “Ben” Heerdink, 95, who once owned and farmed land where North Park Shopping Center and housing developments now stand, died at 3:45 a.m. today at Bethel Sanitarium.
Mr. Heerdink, who had been living with a daughter, Mrs. Irene Rainey of Wortman Road for 12 years, sold his land many years ago.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the church Men’s Club. His wife, Rosa, died in 1967.
Also surviving are other daughters, Mrs. Irma Huelsman of Ft. Branch and Mrs. Marie Weaver of Haubstadt; a son, Raymond Sr. of Evansville; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are pending at Miller and Miller Colonial Chapel.
