Anna C. Slowey, 87, Yankton, died unexpectedly Sunday in Sacred Heart Hospital.
The service will be Thursday 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, with burial in the parish cemetery.
Visitations will be Wednesday from 1 p.m.-9 p.m. at Kostel-McLeod Funeral Home with a scripture at 7:30 p.m. and Rosary at 8 p.m.
Mrs. Slowey, the former Anna Huber, was born Sept. 30, 1895, on the family farm near the Siegel Church. She received her teaching certificate in 1914 from Yankton College and taught in Yankton County rural schools before her marriage to Thomas Slowey April 16, 1917. They farmed in the Mayfield area until 1932 when they moved to a farm near Utica. In 1944, they moved to Yankton. He died in 1963.
She was a member of the Gray Ladies of Sacred Heart Hospital for many years, and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish Altar and Rosary Society and the funeral dinner committee.
Survivors are a son, Vernon “Bud”, Yankton; four daughters, Mrs. Don (Elinor) Perry, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Mrs. Ed (Maxine) Lanctot, Portland, Ore., Mrs. Les (Lois) Hasker, Swanton, Vt., and Mrs. Jim (Rita) Seeley, Austin, Minn.; three sisters, Martha Shane, North Carolina, Mildred Houk, Las Vegas, Nev., and Mrs. Alice Slowey, Burbank, Calif.; a brother, Paul Sr., Yankton; 15 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Dick, two sisters, Clara Grimm and an infant sister, Elanor Huber and a brother, Joe.
